Pickering to Whitby on NYMR

Why not take the early train from Pickering (09.00) and beat the crowds to Whitby (arriving in the resort at 10.35). Enjoy the stunning scenery of the North York Moors on the train before spending some time at the seaside - have some lunch or fish and chips! (try the renowned Magpies fish restaurant or take away) and return on the 14.00 train which gets you back to Pickering at 15.40 with time to spare for the evening. You could of course spend a full day in Whitby and come back on the late afternoon train.

Pickering to Goathland and on to Whitby

Why not buy a Whitby Day Rover ticket which lets you stop off along the way. Take the 11.00 train from Pickering to Goathland. Spend some time having a look around the village (made famous as Aidensfield in Heartbeat). Take a look at the station which is known as Hogsmeade Station the in the Harry Potter films. From there you can take the 12.50 'Yorkshire Coast Express' to Whitby. An afternoon at the seaside before returning to Pickering on the 17.30 train.
